We’ll organize two debates of 20 minutes each.

Debate 1: Should there be a Universal Tax on Wealth (aka Zucman Tax)?

Debate 2: Should we Regulate AI?

Organization

  1. Preparation (50 min)
    • form groups of 5 students: register
    • choose a debate topic (either 1 or 2)
    • sides (for/against) will be assigned randomly
      • one special group will be in charge of presenting the debate
    • prepare arguments for your side
      • go deep: anticipate counter-arguments and rebutals
      • write down everything in a shared document
    • each prep group chooses two debaters
  1. Debate (2x 30 min)
    • two teams of 5 on stage, the rest is the audience
    • 5 minutes: introduction by the special group (presentation of the topic)
    • 10 minutes: team A presents its arguments and team B responds
    • 10 minutes: team B presents its arguments and team A responds
    • questions from the public (5 minutes)
    • vote by the public
      • who won? who hamd the best arguments? who was more convincing?
